What You Can Expect at NCC

What You Can Expect at NCC

Our Mission...

To connect souls to God and equip souls to serve Him in our homes, jobs, schools and communities.

  • Pointing people to faith in Christ.
  • Providing people a place in Christ.

We seek…

  • Unity, not uniformity
  • Love, not legalism
  • Grace, not guilt

We are devoted to "the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer" (Acts 2:42).

We make a difference by pointing people to faith in Christ and by providing people a place in Christ.

NCC is a Teaching Church

In order to fulfill our Mission we stress the preaching and teaching of the Word of God, the Bible.

In addition to our Sunday School Class and Study Groups, the Word of God is proclaimed during our 8:45 and 11:00 Worship Hours. The Sunday Morning Sermon is prepared and delivered in way that is true to the Bible, understandable, relevant and applicable.

God's Word is essential in keeping us connected to Him and equipping us to serve Him.

Music.  Music.  Music.

Martin Luther said, "The Devil...flees before the sound of music almost as much as before the Word of God."

We believe that at NCC. We still love to sing those classic songs of the Faith that mean so much to many souls; songs we need to teach to our young people.

We also like to sing contemporary worship and praise songs that also glorify the Lord and build up His Body.

Sometimes we use our hymn books. Most of the time we project the lyrics onto our screen.

We also have many gifted people in the Church, both young and old, who share encouraging songs with us. We have a Bluegrass Gospel Band (affectionately called "ToneDeaf").

You see, God can be praised and worshipped in many different styles of music.

Sunday Morning Ministry to Children

Our Mission is to connect souls to God and equip souls to serve Him, and that includes our children, too.

We have Sunday School Classes (10:00 am) for all age groups. Teaching God's Word to our precious young people is very important part of our Ministry.

During the 11:00 Worship Hour, we offer our "Connecting from Birth" Nursery Ministry. Our Nursery is served by trained Nursery Ministers who take your children very seriously. It is not just "child care." It is "soul care." It is never too early to connect your children to God. And parents...we give you a pager so that if you are needed during the Worship Hour, you will be paged.

Also during the 11:00 Hour, we offer our "Connections Youth Church." We call it "Connections" because we want to help you connect your children to God and equip them to serve Him in your homes, schools and communities. Youth Church I is for age 5-grade 3 and Youth Church II is for grades 4-6. "Connections Youth Church" meets every Sunday but the first Sunday of the month which is "Family Worship and Youth Day."

For more information about these and other Youth Ministries, call our Youth Pastor at 328-9134. Also click " Upcoming Ministries and Youth."

First Visits

What is the number one fear people have in visiting a church for the first time? We recently asked dozens of people that question and their answers can be summed up this way:

The fear of being singled out and put on the spot, and having the preacher scream at them.

We know that visiting a church for the first time is not any easy thing to do. Maybe you have been thinking about visiting NCC but you are afraid that we will have to wear a special visitor's ribbon and stand up in front of everyone, or you will be yelled at or we will show up at your door uninvited.

If you visit NCC, we will not put you on the spot, we will not single you out and we will not scream at you. We will welcome you with the love of God and give you a guest card to fill out and put in the offering plate (if you want to) so we can send you some information about NCC.

What Brought You to NCC?

We recently conducted a study at NCC in which we asked these questions: 1) What brought you to NCC and 2) What brought you back to NCC?

Some responses to question #1:

A friend invited me.
Youth Ministries.
Radio Ministry.
Deaf Ministry.
We offer an early worship hour.
Looking for a Church Family.

Some responses to question #2:

NCC is a great place for kids.
NCC is a teaching church.
NCC is a friendly church.
NCC celebrates Communion every Sunday.
The preacher knows when to quit (ha..ha).

Benefits from Attending NCC

In the same study, we asked, "What is the greatest personal benefit you receove from NCC?"

Some of the responses:

A growing connection and personal relationship with God.
Coming to know God in a new and different way and wonderful fellowship with my Church Family.
Knowledge of the Bible as it applies to my life.
Being with other Christ-followers.
A wonderful sense of belonging to a group of believers and knowing they are praying for me.
A peace that affects my whole life; an acceptance in bad situations and a confidence and hope that God is in control and loves me.

Many of you reading this right now are not involved in a local church. Maybe you have been disappointed by a church. Maybe you are just disillusioned with church altogether.Maybe you missed a Sunday or two and never went back. Maybe you got mad and just quit. Maybe you are a Prodigal Son or Daughter (see Luke 15:11-32. Prodigal means "lost.")

Well, God loves to give second chances. It is time for you to release your bitterness and forgive those who may have hurt you, and repent of your unfaithfulness and pick yourself up (like the Prodigal Son) and get back home where you belong...and begin again.

If you are looking for a Church Family to connect with, grow with and serve with, visit NCC for a while and get to know us. We are located on Park Ave. across from the Norton Square Shopping Center.
